Software Update: Finance: GL Transaction Recommender Beta

We’ve made significant improvements to how the system recommends account codes when you’re entering General Ledger transactions. The recommendation engine now has a much deeper understanding of municipal accounting conventions, including how different account types work, which accounts are debit-normal versus credit-normal, and the fund structures your organization uses. The result is noticeably more accurate suggestions that better match how your chart of accounts is actually organized.

The improved GL transaction recommendation interface showing smarter account code suggestions

For organizations with large charts of accounts, the system now intelligently identifies the most relevant accounts for each transaction rather than trying to consider every account at once. This means faster, more focused recommendations, even if your chart of accounts has hundreds of entries. We’ve also added built-in privacy safeguards that automatically detect and protect sensitive information like employee names and tax identifiers, so you can use the recommendation feature with confidence when working with payroll or personnel-related transactions.

Account recommendation results with improved accuracy and relevance

Behind the scenes, the system is now more clear when things don’t go as expected, displaying a clear, helpful message instead of a confusing error if the recommendation service encounters an issue. Administrators also have new visibility into how the recommendation feature is being used across the organization, making it easier to monitor costs and ensure the system is performing well. These improvements are available now on sandbox for testing and will roll out to production environments soon.
