Business licenses often involve properties of different types, and the system used a single label, “Work Being Performed At,” for all parcels linked to a license, regardless of the type of business. That generic wording didn’t always fit, and it could be confusing for both staff and applicants.

We’ve updated the licensing module so that parcel labels now adjust automatically based on the type of business. A rental property business (NAICS 531110) will see “Properties Rented” instead of “Work Being Performed At.” A mobile food service will see “Vending Locations.” Contractor licenses continue to display “Work Being Performed At”. These context-aware labels appear everywhere: on license and application screens, on printed certificates, in renewal notices, and on the parcel detail page itself.

Support staff also have a new option on the License Type administration page to customize the label for any industry classification. If a label isn’t set for a specific business code, the system will check the broader industry category and use an appropriate default . These labels carry through to every printout and notification, giving applicants and staff clear, accurate descriptions of how properties relate to each license.
